That wasn't always the case. For a while, all I had were fanfic muses -- Giles and Jenny and Willow and Ethan and Oz, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, Darien and Hobbes, Jack and Daniel -- and I did write occasional original things, but there were never characters in my head for it. Except that I was doing a writing challenge, and pulled two random characters (Kiran and Lief) out of my head; they didn't have names or backgrounds or anything, and only the barest of physical descriptions, but they fairly quickly decided they had names and backgrounds and physical descriptions.

Since then, I have random OCs pop unnanounced into my head. They usually come in pairs, though not always. It's kind of entertaining sometimes -- and kind of frustrating at other times.

I also have several universes that I play in; about half the muses I have are pure fantasy, and come with their own world. I'm planning on doing more with the Tiarol universe, and doing a lot more with the Stantaresh universe. For now, each of those two only have a single pair of muses, but there are more that are in my head that just aren't clear enough for me to know their name or appearance or, er, any other things that are useful for putting character information on a website.
